The Samsung PL70 is one of two entry-level compact cameras (PL55, PL70/PL720) released in late 2009. Both models feature a 12.2MP sensor and 5x optical zoom, but the PL70 utilizes a superior 28mm wide-angle lens, a 3.0” LCD display, and dual image stabilization, which combines optical stabilization with the advanced algorithms of digital stabilization. The powerful lens allows the unit to record full 720p (1280x780) HD films, as well as capture high-resolution 3000x4000 pixel still shots. Signature to the PL70 is its ability to search images by a person’s face. Additional features include a recycle been for restoring deleted photos; automatic fame, smile, and blink detection; and a Smart Auto shooting mode that chooses from 11 scene modes to produce the best possible image.
